Richard Dolan

Also known as Richard M. Dolan, Dolan

Richard Dolan is an American historian and author who studied history at Alfred University, Oxford and the University of Rochester, where he did graduate work on Cold War national security policy. His two-volume UFOs and the National Security State (2000; 2009) is a chronology of the U.S. government's handling of the subject from 1941 to 1991, drawn largely from declassified documents, and the first volume carries a foreword by Jacques Vallée. He also co-wrote the speculative A.D. After Disclosure.

At the 2013 Citizen Hearing he testified on the history of declassified UFO documents, the CIA's 1953 Robertson Panel and the Roswell records, and argued that secret research on recovered technology may have produced a "breakaway" classified world beyond presidential control. That last argument is his interpretation; he presents it as a hypothesis rather than a documented finding.
