What this site collects

Where Are They is a personal, non-commercial research archive. It has no accounts, no ads and no newsletter, and sells or shares no data.

Analytics

In the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics is off unless you click Accept on the cookie banner. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can switch it off at any time with the button below. Your country is worked out from your connection by our host (Netlify) only to decide whether to show the banner; it is not stored.

When analytics is on, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and videos are used, so the archive can be improved. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and receives your approximate location (country/city), device and browser type, and the pages you view. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features are switched off. If you click Reject, Google Analytics is not loaded and its cookies are removed.

The site keeps a few preferences in your browser's local storage so it works the way you left it: light/dark theme, filters, panel width, and your cookie choice. They never leave your device.
