La Tribuna di Treviso, 19 August 1995: "All'inseguimento dell'Ufo" (the Cecconi photograph)

A full-page local press report, published on the day the photograph Giancarlo Cecconi kept from his 18 June 1979 sortie was first made public. It prints that frame, a portrait of Cecconi, and an interview with Antonio Chiumiento, the researcher of the Centro Ufologico Nazionale who obtained the print, relaying what Cecconi told him. It also carries an uncaptioned picture of a dark cylinder with a light dome, which the article does not identify.
The article's own figures differ from the pilot's later account to CISU: it gives the object as about 5 m long and 1.5 m across, and says the Sant'Angelo control tower tasked Cecconi, where CISU's account has the Istrana radar centre directing him and an object of about 8 m. Its claim that the Air Force had officially called the object a toy balloon is the interviewer's.
