UFOs Are Real (S.P.I. Books, 1997) is by Clifford Stone, a retired U.S. Army sergeant first class who spent years filing Freedom of Information Act requests for military UFO records. As its subtitle says, it presents government documents he obtained as evidence of extraterrestrial encounters, with his commentary.

Stone later said publicly, at the Disclosure Project's 2001 National Press Club event, that he had himself taken part in recoveries of crashed craft, some with bodies and live occupants. No official record supports that account, and the documents in his book, while genuine where they come from FOIA releases, are his reading of what they show.
