UAPs and the Nuclear Puzzle (New Page Books, 2023) is the updated edition of Robert Salas's Unidentified, retitled with the newer term UAP and carrying forewords by the journalist Leslie Kean and the nuclear physicist and UFO researcher Stanton Friedman. Salas, a former Air Force launch officer, recounts the March 1967 night at Malmstrom when he says guards reported a glowing object over the launch facility as the missiles went off alert, and sets it beside other reports of UFOs at nuclear missile sites across eighty years.

Its argument is that the Air Force's 1969 assurance that UFOs posed no threat to national security was untrue, and that the subject needs transparency. It appeared in the year of the July 2023 congressional UAP hearing. The book is testimony; the documentary record on Malmstrom is contested (see the Malmstrom claim), and AARO has attributed the shutdowns to a secret EMP test, which Salas disputes.
