Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience
Stanton T. Friedman and Kathleen Marden · foreword by Bruce Maccabee · New Page Books · 320 pages · ISBN 978-1-56414-971-8
Captured! (New Page Books, 2007) is the account of the 1961 Betty and Barney Hill case by Stanton Friedman and Kathleen Marden, Betty Hill's niece, with access to the family's papers. It retells the couple's drive through New Hampshire, the missing time, their hypnosis sessions with the psychiatrist Benjamin Simon, and Betty's star map, which Friedman defended as matching the Zeta Reticuli system.
The case is the first widely publicised abduction report and remains disputed: Dr. Simon himself concluded the abduction story was most likely a fantasy shaped by Betty's dreams, and the star-map match was contested in Astronomy magazine in 1974.
