Top Secret/Majic: Operation Majestic-12 and the United States Government's UFO Cover-up

Stanton T. Friedman · foreword by Whitley Strieber · Marlowe & Company · 284 pages · ISBN 978-1-56924-830-0

Glimpses

That agencies of the U.S. government have been withholding data about extraterrestrial flying saucers seen all over the world, in the sky and on the ground, by eye and with radar, is as certain as that the sun will rise tomorrow.

I am convinced that the documents, when carefully and objectively examined, lead to the conclusion that there was indeed an Operation Majestic-12.

I don't believe it is coincidence that the first crash of flying saucers … occurred in southeastern New Mexico, the only place on the globe in 1947 where all three of these technologies … could be monitored.

Top Secret/Majic (Marlowe & Company, 1996) is Stanton Friedman's defence of the MJ-12 papers: the "Eisenhower briefing document" and related memos that surfaced in the 1980s describing a secret committee of scientists and officials set up after Roswell. Friedman, who spent years in presidential and other archives checking their details, argues there are no substantive grounds for dismissing them, and recounts winning the sceptic Philip Klass's $1,000 challenge over their typeface.

The FBI's own file records the Air Force calling the briefing document fabricated, and most researchers, including many who accept Roswell, regard the MJ-12 papers as forgeries. Friedman himself showed that some later MJ-12 documents were hoaxes.
