DOW-UAP-PR100 — Yellow Sea, 2023: the INDOPACOM report with seconds of colour footage
Department of War / AARO (DVIDS) · 2023 · 5 min · Watch the original
4 minutes 57 seconds of electro-optical and infrared footage from a U.S. military platform over the Yellow Sea in 2023, reported by INDOPACOM to AARO and released in PURSUE release 04. It is the only video of the East Asian set with a few seconds from the daytime camera, at 1:04–1:10, which is why it is compared with Kevin Campbell's account of an object seen briefly in colour.

Key moments
- 0:01 In infrared, the sensor tracks an area of contrast, keeping it generally centred; from 0:09 it zooms in and keeps tracking (AARO).
- 1:04 The only colour footage in the East Asian set: the sensor switches to its daytime camera, which shows, in AARO's words, “a dark object superimposed against a blue background”. In the frames from 1:04 to 1:10 a small, dark, slightly elongated shape sits just above the crosshair over the sea, with a lighter highlight on top in the first seconds. Kevin Campbell recalls an MQ-9 video with three frames of colour showing a “brown rust” object; no record says this is the one he saw.
- 1:11 Back in infrared, the object is no longer visible; from 1:14 the sensor zooms and changes contrast and finds it again near the centre (AARO).
- 2:17 The object repeatedly leaves and re-enters the field of view, then is tracked again from 2:23 (AARO).
- 3:28 The footage skips and loses coherence for a few seconds, then resumes tracking; from 3:47 the sensor zooms out (AARO).
