Also known as Robert L. Hastings, Robert Lambert Hastings, Hastings
- UFO researcher and author of UFOs and Nukes (2008, 2nd ed. 2017); has interviewed more than 160 military veterans about UFOs at nuclear weapons sites
Robert Hastings (born 1950 in Albuquerque) is an American UFO researcher and author whose work centres on reports of UFOs at nuclear weapons sites. His father served in the U.S. Air Force at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, and Hastings says that in March 1967, as a teenager working in the base control tower, he saw radar track five unidentified objects near the missile silos. He trained in photography at Ohio University, worked as a photographic technician and later as a laboratory analyst at Philips Semiconductors, and from 1981 lectured at hundreds of U.S. colleges.
He has interviewed more than 160 veterans about UFO incursions at nuclear facilities and compiled them in UFOs and Nukes (2008; second edition 2017). On 27 September 2010 he hosted a press conference at the National Press Club where seven former Air Force personnel, among them Robert Salas and Charles Halt, described such incidents. He directed the documentary UFOs and Nukes: The Secret Link Revealed (2016) and wrote Confession (2019) with the former Air Force officer Bob Jacobs. Sceptics such as Benjamin Radford say his accounts recycle old reports without new evidence.
