Person
Robert Jacobs
Also known as Bob Jacobs
- Lieutenant, U.S. Air Force photographic instrumentation officer (Vandenberg AFB)
- Later a university professor
Robert Jacobs was a U.S. Air Force lieutenant in charge of a photographic instrumentation team at Vandenberg Air Force Base, and later a university professor. He says that in September 1964 his team's telescope footage of an Atlas missile test showed a disc-shaped object circle the dummy warhead, fire beams of light at it and send it tumbling.
He first went public in 1982. The project engineer Kingston George disputed his interpretation, arguing that the film showed decoys and chaff. Jacobs appears in The Age of Disclosure (2025).
