Organization
Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare)
Also known as Aeronautica Militare, Reparto Generale Sicurezza, RGS
Italy's air force. Since the 1978 sighting wave it has collected and checked reports of unidentified flying objects (OVNI); today its Reparto Generale Sicurezza (RGS) does this work. Reports are checked against air traffic, air-defence radar and weather data. An event is catalogued "O.V.N.I." when no technical or natural explanation is found. The Air Force publishes summary tables of past reports.
