The Halt Perspective
Col. Charles I. Halt (USAF, ret.)
The Halt Perspective (2016) is the account of the Rendlesham Forest incident by its senior official witness, Col. Charles Halt, who as deputy base commander at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge led a search party into the forest on the night of 27–28 December 1980 with a Geiger counter and a dictaphone, and wrote the "Unexplained Lights" memo to the Ministry of Defence.
The book sets out his side of the case in detail: the radiation readings at the landing site, the red light that broke into white objects, the beams he saw fall near the weapons storage area, and his view that the events were played down. In 2010 he signed an affidavit concluding the objects were extraterrestrial. Sceptics attribute the flashing light to the Orford Ness lighthouse and the indentations to rabbit diggings; Halt rejects both explanations.
