Glimpses
The men are not lying. I'm quite convinced of that
is not consistent either with what you would expect from space visitors, or with what we know about physics. That's the dilemma.
The Edge of Reality (Regnery, 1975) is a book of conversations between J. Allen Hynek and his former Northwestern colleague Jacques Vallée, with case reports and their discussions of what UFOs might be. It moves away from the simple extraterrestrial hypothesis towards the stranger aspects of close encounters that both men came to emphasise, and includes a stereoscopic photograph Hynek said he took of an object from a plane.
The sceptic Robert Sheaffer reviewed it harshly, writing that the authors had "gleefully swallowed a dismally high number of UFO hoaxes"; both authors replied to him in print.
