Christopher Mellon on the strongest evidence we are not alone (Unveiled clip, 2026)
Unveiled · 21 July 2026 · 7 min · Watch the original
A seven-minute clip from a Disclosure Foundation interview with Christopher Mellon, published by the Unveiled channel: the books he recommends, the cumulative history he finds compelling, the Nimitz and Roosevelt cases he took to the Senate, and his view of a meteor-plasma explanation for orbs.
The automatic captions on this upload read like a machine translation back into English (UAP comes out as "NPA" or "NAIA"), so the moments paraphrase rather than quote. The full interview is linked in the video's description.
Key moments
- 0:23 Chris Mellon: Asked for the most convincing evidence, Mellon recommends books: Robert Powell's recent book on what science knows about UFOs, Richard Dolan's UFOs and the National Security State, and Robert Hastings's UFOs and Nukes.
- 1:05 Chris Mellon: For him the accumulated history is itself compelling, from the July 1952 flights over Washington to the thousands of other reports that year.
- 1:35 Chris Mellon: The Nimitz case is the strongest, for its number of witnesses, sensor data and quality of testimony; he used it from the start.
- 2:04 Chris Mellon: When they first went to the Hill, they brought David Fravor and Alex Dietrich to brief senators, along with East Coast aviators who saw UAP almost daily during the USS Theodore Roosevelt's 2015 deployment.
- 3:10 Chris Mellon: He also cites a case in which a Navy electronic-warfare aircraft tracked an object for hours as it circled and emitted radar signals (the captions call it Socorro; the description fits the 1957 RB-47 case).
- 3:56 Chris Mellon: Mellon says he refers to public information, but some powerful data that has not been made public is hard to explain conventionally.
- 4:24 Chris Mellon: On a new hypothesis Avi Loeb wrote about, orbs as clumped remnants of meteors: worth considering, but many sightings recur at military installations and some move as if intelligently controlled.
- 6:03 Chris Mellon: He knows of one case of such a sphere moving inside a building at a secret facility at night.
- 6:42 Chris Mellon: Even if the hypothesis explains orbs, it leaves the daytime saucers and the lit triangles reported since the 1950s.

0:00 You have stated quite clearly that we are not alone . What is the most convincing evidence you can provide to unfamiliar with the topic to move them from " unknown phenomena" to the belief that non-human intelligence is the most likely explanation Well, if they have time to read a few books, I would recommend a few options. I think Robert Powell recently published a very good book: "What Science Knows and Doesn't Know About NLP." Um, I think Richard Dolan's old book "UFOs and the National Security State " is very good. Uh, Hastings's " UFOs and Nuclear Weapons" is very good. There are many books that help people understand this, but scholars usually don't bother with it, and that's one of the problems in discussions in the wider community: some people history and some don't.
1:01 Understanding this story, its depth and the total number of events is overwhelming. Whether it's July '52 and the flights over the capital, or hundreds and hundreds of other incidents that year, or even thousands, I think, in general, I think it's very important to understand the accumulated history, and for me that in itself is compelling. As for specific cases, I think the Nimitz case is a great one, probably the most compelling case in terms of the number of witnesses, additional sensor data, and quality of testimony. Uh, that's a pretty, uh... pretty compelling case . So I used it repeatedly at the very beginning. And when we first
2:01 came to Hill, we invited Commander Dave Fraver and Alex Dietrich, some of the specialists who were involved in that incident. Um, to talk to the senators, because it was an compelling case . Of course, we also invited other sailors from the East Coast who had equally compelling stories from around 2015 during the deployment of the aircraft carrier Roosevelt , and who also encountered NPAs almost daily off the East Coast. Um, so there are a lot of compelling incidents, but I think the Nimitz... stands a little, maybe a head and shoulders above all the others. But, uh, also given the information that led me to conclude that a subset, a fraction of these objects really cannot be explained by technology. This has
3:05 a lot to do understanding the history of this phenomenon and events like the Socorro incident, where a Navy electronic warfare plane for hours, getting all sorts of evidence of the NAIA circling the for hours and emitting radar signals, etc. So, there are quite a few qualitative cases that point in the same direction. So would you say that most of your confidence in this is based on information that is publicly available, as Well, I try to reference things that are publicly available because the rest isn't much But this information is being supplemented. There is also some powerful and information that we to make public, and some of this data is difficult to explain by reference to any
4:12 Have you ever studied any explanations for the NAA that you took very seriously as plausible? Well, there's something new that's come out just in the last few days about plasma balls, about spheres that Avi Loeb just wrote about . This is a hypothesis put forward by someone—I don't know if he's a meteorologist or an astrophysicist—but it has to do with particles that are the remnants of falling meteors, and these clump together into a ball. This is, uh, a little hard for me to accept. But it's definitely worth considering. And I only say that because—not that I'm against atmospheric explanations for anything, but you know, a lot of this happens on the grounds of military installations, centers, and so on. And I don't
5:16 think meteorites fall more often in these . The data claims that there is a very strong correlation, and I suspect that is the case, but some of these things appear in places repeatedly, which seems, uh, a little hard to fit into this theory. Some of them also exhibit what appears to be intelligence in terms of where they go and how they move. I've heard about these, uh, plasma balls or spheres inside enclosed buildings in the community. I know of one case where this happened. At a secret facility, this thing moving inside the building at night. I do n't know if this could have happened inside the building as a result of a meteorite falling nearby, if it had.
6:18 So it's good to have these, you know, these kinds of theories that need to be considered along with everything else. This still doesn't explain why he suggests that in some cases they may take on a more lenticular shape, like a flying saucer. That still doesn't explain a lot of things. Triangular devices with lights that have been seen and recorded since the 1950s. I think many daytime "flying saucers", of which there are hundreds of thousands, do not look like the effects of a meteor shower or do not have such a spherical shape or light emission. They don't fit this pattern. Even if this explains the orbs, there will still be much that remains
