Juan Ignacio Lorenzo
Also known as Juan Ignacio Lorenzo Torres, Lorenzo
- Captain, Iberia (flight IB-249, 4 November 1968)
Juan Ignacio Lorenzo was the Iberia captain of flight IB-249, whose crew radioed Barcelona Control about a large light between Valencia and Sagunto on 4 November 1968. Later accounts give his full name as Juan Ignacio Lorenzo Torres; the released Air Force file names no crew.
On RTVE's En familia in 1989 he told a far more dramatic story than the 1968 radio transcript: the light came within 10 metres, he signalled to it with his lights, and he was shown a radar report. He said the experience convinced him that extraterrestrials exist.

Facts and claims
- claimed On RTVE in 1989 he said a huge light came at the aircraft near Sagunto, stopped about 10 m away and paced it for 5–6 minutes. He likened it to "un ojo humano, muy grande, con dos luces laterales", and said the co-pilot, flight engineer and a stewardess saw it too. — Juan Ignacio Lorenzo Source: En familia: OVNIs (RTVE, 1989), with Lt. Gen. Carlos Dolz de Espejo and Iberia captain Juan Ignacio Lorenzo at 10:17
- claimed He said he exchanged signals with it using his taxi lights, and that next day the Barcelona alert-and-control chief showed him and gave him a copy of a national radar-coverage report. The Air Force file holds only the radio transcript, in which Barcelona says the position was beyond its radar. — Juan Ignacio Lorenzo Source: En familia: OVNIs (RTVE, 1989), with Lt. Gen.
