Western U.S. national security site triangle sighting
Also known as triangular UAP 2026, western U.S. triangle

In June 2026, federal special agents at an observation post at a sensitive national security site in the western United States watched, through binoculars and a handheld thermal monocular, a silent, matte black triangle with a wingspan of roughly nine to fifteen feet rise over a ridge, hover, then bank into a canyon at high speed. A third official at a separate post first detected it on long-range thermal equipment. A second observation followed the next evening, and a ground search found no debris. The account was released in PURSUE release 07 as an AARO memorandum and an FBI interview report.
AARO says the case warrants further investigation because it matches other incidents reported in the western United States, such as the 2025 orb encounters at a western military facility, but it reaches no conclusion about what the object was. The two records differ on detail: the agents' own statement compares it to a delta-wing drone and puts the sighting at about three seconds, while AARO's debrief describes a ten-second climb and a twenty-second hover.

Facts and claims
- documented An AARO memorandum records a debrief of two federal special agents and a corroborating third official at a separate observation post, who reported UAP observations at “a sensitive national security site in the western United States over two days in 2026.” Source: DOW-UAP-D176 — Triangular UAP AARO Memorandum for Record, 2026
- documented The agents describe “a matte black triangular shape of extremely low aspect ratio” with an estimated thirteen-to-fifteen-foot wingspan that rose vertically over a ridge line for about ten seconds, hovered for about twenty seconds, then banked and descended into a canyon in two to three seconds, “with speed the observers described to be as fast as a fighter jet.” Source: DOW-UAP-D176 — Triangular UAP AARO Memorandum for Record, 2026
- documented AARO records that the craft “generated no detectable acoustic signature throughout the entire engagement”, showed a spatially uniform thermal signature with no exhaust or heat sources, and that a ground survey the next morning “located no wreckage, ground scarring, or vegetation damage.” Source: DOW-UAP-D176 — Triangular UAP AARO Memorandum for Record, 2026
- documented AARO considers the incident to warrant further investigation because the reported shape and movement align closely with other reported incidents in the western United States region, but states that the file “does not present a conclusive finding regarding the nature or origin of the reported object or objects.” Source: DOW-UAP-D176 — Triangular UAP AARO Memorandum for Record, 2026
- documented The agents' own written statement, recorded by the FBI, describes the object as “most resembling a delta wing drone”, hotter than ambient temperature, with a wingspan of “approximately nine to fifteen feet”, and gives the total duration of the sighting as about three seconds, shorter than the phases set out in AARO's debrief.
