Robert Bigelow buys Skinwalker Ranch
In 1996 the Las Vegas businessman Robert Bigelow bought Skinwalker Ranch in Utah's Uinta Basin for $200,000 from the family of Terry Sherman, whose stories of cattle mutilations and strange lights had persuaded him to investigate.
Bigelow's National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) studied the property for years, logging close to 100 incidents including vanishing and mutilated cattle and sightings of lights and orbs, while acknowledging difficulty obtaining evidence fit for scientific publication. The ranch later figured in the Pentagon-funded AAWSAP work contracted to Bigelow's company.
