Antarctic flying saucers: FBIS Argentina report of 6 July 1965 (CIA)
A single page of U.S. government monitoring of the Latin American press and radio for 5–6 July 1965, released in the CIA's online reading room as document 0005515662. One short item summarises an ANSA wire dispatch from Buenos Aires on the Antarctic sightings, the first wave of the press reports on the Deception Island lights.
It records what the wire services were saying, not an investigation. Its version (a group of saucers over the island for two hours, seen by all three bases) is more dramatic than the Argentine Navy's own communiqué of the same day, which described one object seen for 15 to 20 minutes.
