Glimpses

The animal loped gracefully in a series of S turns and stopped about fifty yards away from the family. This was very bizarre behavior for a wolf.

The slug from the .357 had no effect whatsoever on the attacking animal. It didn’t yelp, didn’t pause, and didn’t bleed.

Cover of Hunt for the Skinwalker: Science Confronts the Unexplained at a Remote Ranch in Utah

Hunt for the Skinwalker (Paraview Pocket Books, 2005) is the first book on what became known as Skinwalker Ranch. Its authors are the biochemist Colm Kelleher, who led the field team of Robert Bigelow's National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) on the property, and the Las Vegas journalist George Knapp, who was allowed to follow their work. It retells the family's accounts that led them to sell the ranch in 1996, then the NIDS study: lights, objects, animal mutilations and creatures, and the team's attempts to record them.

The book describes reported experiences and the team's observations; it publishes no data that others have analysed, and its events have no independent confirmation. It is the prequel to Skinwalkers at the Pentagon (2021), in which Kelleher, Knapp and James Lacatski describe how the ranch drew the attention of the DIA and led to AAWSAP.
