Gimbal: the official U.S. Navy video (January 2015)
Also known as Gimbal, Gimbal video
U.S. Navy, NAVAIR FOIA Reading Room · January 2015 · 1 min · Watch the original
The 34-second infrared video recorded by an F/A-18 crew off the U.S. East Coast in January 2015, during the USS Theodore Roosevelt's pre-deployment exercises. The pod tracks a dark, saucer-like infrared shape above the clouds that appears to turn near the end. It was published by To The Stars Academy and The New York Times in December 2017, and the Department of Defense authorized its official release on 27 April 2020. Unlike GoFast, it has no official resolution.
The cockpit audio is poor: the transcript is a machine transcription, and the moments paraphrase it rather than quote it. This copy comes from the Naval Air Systems Command FOIA reading room.

0:00 Dude, there's a fuckin' drone, bro. There's a whole fleet of 'em, look on the ASA. My gosh. They're all going against the wind. The wind's a hundred and twenty knots far west. Look at that thing, dude. That's not our LNS though, is it? Yeah, it is LNS, dude. If there's like a thing, it's rotated.
