Daniel Perissé
Also known as Daniel Alberto Perissé, Daniel A. Perissé, Perissé, Perisse
- Lieutenant (teniente de fragata), Argentine Navy marines; commander of the Deception Island naval detachment, 1965
Daniel Alberto Perissé was an Argentine Navy officer, a lieutenant (teniente de fragata) of the marines, who commanded the naval detachment on Deception Island, Antarctica, during the sightings of June and July 1965. His radio reports were the basis of the Argentine Navy's official communiqués of 6 and 7 July 1965, and he was quoted worldwide saying the object was neither a balloon, a star nor an aircraft.
He had an interest in UFOs before the events and the Naval Intelligence Service's UFO questionnaires on the island's sightings appear to be in his handwriting. He later rose to capitán de fragata and kept writing about the cases: a synopsis in 1979, a table for a 1983 congress in Posadas, a paper for the 1987 MUFON symposium in Washington, and a posthumous book chapter. A 2012 re-investigation that used his records concluded that the lights of 3 July were most probably a meteor, the Echo II satellite and Mars or bright stars.

Facts and claims
- claimed As commander of the Deception naval detachment he confirmed by radio, in the Navy's bulletin no. 172 of 7 July 1965, that 17 people had seen the object of 3 July, and that its characteristics "permiten afirmar que no se trataba de un globo sonda, ni una estrella, ni un avión". — Daniel Perissé Source: ceticismoaberto.com (archived)
- claimed In later writings, including a paper for the 1987 MUFON symposium, he corrected the communiqué: the object's elevation never exceeded 35°, the detachment's witnesses were 14, the sighting lasted 62 minutes, and it could not be shown that the earlier Orcadas object was the same one. — Daniel Perissé Source: ceticismoaberto.com (archived)
