Incident · August 1975 · Fargo, North Dakota
Sandra Larson abduction
Sandra Larson, 32, said that early on 26 August 1975, while being driven from Fargo to Bismarck, North Dakota, by her daughter Jackie's boyfriend, the three saw several glowing orange spheres descend over Interstate 94 about 45 miles west of Fargo, and afterwards could not account for roughly an hour.
The psychologist R. Leo Sprinkle of the University of Wyoming later hypnotised Larson. Under hypnosis she described being taken aboard a craft and examined by beings she likened to mummies, including a sample taken from her nose.
There is no physical evidence or independent corroboration of the abduction itself, and memories recovered under hypnosis are widely regarded as unreliable; local commentators have called it one of the state's best-known but least believable UFO stories.
