Paul Hellyer's Toronto speech (“as real as the airplanes”)

On 25 September 2005, Paul Hellyer, Canada's Minister of National Defence in the 1960s, told the Exopolitics Toronto symposium at the University of Toronto that UFOs "are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head".

Coming from a former defence minister, the remark became one of the most widely quoted moments of the disclosure movement. Hellyer went on to make further, more speculative claims about extraterrestrial visitors in later talks; his statements are filed with his record.
