Mexico City airport radar contacts

Also known as Mexico City UFOs 1992–1994, Toluca radar 1992

Between 1992 and 1994 air traffic controllers at Mexico City's international airport recorded a series of unidentified radar contacts and near-collision reports. Enrique Kolbeck, one of the airport's radar controllers, described them at the Disclosure Project press conference in Washington in 2001: fifteen objects detected west of Toluca airport on 4 March 1992; two near-collisions reported by domestic airliners in July and August 1994, one of them briefly seen on radar; and on 15 September 1994 a single, apparently stationary contact held for about five hours, which technicians confirmed was not a radar fault.

He said a new radar system entered service in November 1994 and gave more exact data matching pilots' reports, and that his country considered the situation a danger to aviation. The account is his testimony; no Mexican aviation records of these contacts are on file.
