Spanish Air Force file 670603: aircraft and radar encounter over Montánchez, 3 June 1967
The Spanish Air Force file on the object followed by a T-33, two radar stations and two scrambled F-86 interceptors over Montánchez on 3 June 1967. It contains the air-defence command's report, the reports of the MATADOR and BOLERO radar station chiefs with their track logs, and the transcript of the radio tape. It also holds the reports of the F-86 and T-33 crews, a copy of the F-86 photograph and a press cutting from the Hoja del Lunes de Badajoz of 5 June 1967. Declassified in 1992. Published in the Biblioteca Virtual de Defensa under CC BY 4.0.

Facts and claims
- documented The file summarises that DUENDE 20, a T-33 from Talavera air base with two pilots, saw a bright object at 11 o'clock about 5,000 ft above it over Montánchez at FL 220. The pilots could not climb to its level and had the impression it rose too, and twice noticed strong radio interference passing beneath it. Its horizontal movement was slight or nil. - documented Radar station EVA 3 made contact with an object apparently orbiting in the Talavera area at 16:26Z, and EVA 2 at 16:45Z, with a double echo on the height-finder. At 16:59Z two F-86s from Torrejón were scrambled with cameras and reached its vertical. All crews described a changing, very bright light-grey object — a deformed ball, a pyramid, two cones joined at the base — and generally agreed it might be a balloon. The only photograph kept is a very poor print showing a point of light. Source: doc-ea-expediente-670603-montanchez.pdf
- documented The 1992 review by the MOA intelligence section judged that "La doble detección radar (EVAs 2 y 3) hacen innegable la presencia de un objeto físico sólido, de desplazamiento horizontal muy lento". It noted that the apparent abrupt height changes were not borne out by height-finder data and that no organisation that might have launched a balloon was ever consulted. It concluded that the pilots' impressions and the object's behaviour and shape "inducen a pensar que se trató de un GLOBO SONDA". Source: doc-ea-expediente-670603-montanchez.pdf
