MoD file DEFE 24/1961: UFO reports, January–August 1995
Also known as DEFE 24/1961, MoD UFO reports 1995
A Ministry of Defence registered file of the UFO desk's sighting reports for January to August 1995, opened at The National Archives on 17 August 2009. Most of its pages are the standard report forms logged by the duty operations officer from police, airports and members of the public, with names redacted.
Its one paper on the Manchester near-miss shows how far the MoD took the case: the controller's occurrence report arrived from the CAA, the air defence staff had no concerns, and the file notes it as a CAA matter.
