CMRI decision on the Operação Prato records (Brazil, 2012)

Also known as CMRI Operação Prato, Recurso 60502.000774/2012-53

A 2012 decision of Brazil's Joint Commission for the Reassessment of Information (Comissão Mista de Reavaliação de Informações, CMRI), the last appeal body under the access-to-information law. A citizen had asked the Air Force for the reports, films and photographs of Operação Prato. The Air Force replied, at each stage, that its UFO records had gone to the National Archives; the requester said the Operação Prato material was not there. The commission sided with the Air Force without saying where the films and photographs are.

It is the clearest official record of the gap in this case: Capt. Hollanda said his team took hundreds of photographs and that the full report went to the Air Force General Staff, but no official body has produced them.
